Klang 2025: NJYD X Sophia Sagaradze: Beyond Lines

BEYOND Lines is a multimedia composition by Georgian composer Sophia Sagaradze. A performance for the four musicians of the NJYD-quartet, live electronics, and lights – in which the lights take on a role resembling that of a performer – the performance also interacts with elements of installation. The piece is about the difficult process of destroying stereotypes, suppressing dominant commands inside oneself, and reaching, ultimately, a bigger sense of self. In a process resembling death and rebirth, the piece reflects on the continuous, endless cycle of the rediscovery of intimate truths which is necessary to finally find freedom.
