Culture through co-creation

HUSET’s activities are developed entirely or in part through co-creation. For us, this means that we provide space for Copenhagen’s cultural communities to realize their potential within HUSET’s framework, with guidance and support from HUSET’s administration.

The cultural scene is constantly evolving with new ideas and art forms, which we strive to seek out and nurture. We view HUSET as a kind of laboratory or playground where cultural entrepreneurs are free to experiment.

HUSET’s administration and production team have many years of experience in cultural production, which can benefit entirely new and untested culture creators. We provide technical and production assistance, make professional facilities available, and support PR and communication.

Co-creation is about developing the cultural ecosystem in the broadest sense, both on and off stage.

How to become a cultural partner at HUSET

  1. Once you have an idea for an event or a series of events, compare your concept with our requirements and criteria for events at HUSET to see if it fits HUSET’s profile
  2. Next, you should assess whether your event primarily focuses on a concert or is another type of cultural event, as our editorial team is divided into one person responsible for music events and one for “other culture”
  3. You are now ready to apply to become a cultural partner via our contact form

We cannot guarantee that we will respond to every inquiry, so if you do not hear from us, it may be that your event was not a good fit for HUSET.

What criteria and requirements does HUSET set for a cultural partner?

At HUSET, we prioritize events for emerging talent, youth-oriented communities, and non-commercial organizers who align with HUSET’s profile: emerging talent, activism, non-commercial activities, and community engagement.

Additionally, the event must fit within our shared vision and content direction at HUSET, which we call "Kriteriehuset”.

In addition to our content criteria, we prioritize events that meet the following criteria:

  • Events at HUSET must be public and open to everyone regardless of gender, ethnicity, sexuality, or religion
  • Events at HUSET must not be partisan
  • We want to ensure diversity, so the admission price must be affordable enough for everyone to attend

HUSET is a partner in the cultural project, and we are always a co-organizer of the project. For printed materials and online content, HUSET’s guidelines for design and presentation must be followed.

And finally: If your event incurs additional costs for us, we will require payment from you. This may be in connection with special needs for sound equipment, cleaning, opening HUSET outside of HUSET’s normal opening hours, etc. Once we agree on a collaboration, we will draw up a concrete agreement and work out the financial details.

From idea to event

If your event is still just an idea, we’re here to help you make it a reality. We can assist at various levels depending on the resources you or your network have available.

We always operate under the philosophy that you, as the creators of the idea, should be able to contribute as much as possible to making the project a reality; therefore, our assistance and guidance will always focus on how you, as the project creator, can gain hands-on experience in producing your event.

Depending on how far along you are with your project idea, our culture team is ready to provide advice and guidance in the following areas: concept development, planning, fundraising, execution, technical support, and PR.

Kriteriehuset

Kriteriehuset is a tool we use to select, develop, and strengthen our collaboration with the cultural communities that are part of HUSET.

Our vision is that, through co-creation, facilitation, and hosting, we will develop and support an arts and culture profile that challenges and inspires people.
