Lærere er til for at lære

A play about the classroom as a political battleground with sock puppets and dark humour.

Step into a dark and absurd comedy that exposes the hidden power struggles of school life, sharply and directly. Here, parent-teacher conferences, rants and trust exercises merge into a puppet theatre-like universe where you never quite know whether you are attending a lesson, a negotiation or a team-building exercise.

Teacher Asger finds himself in the middle of a conflict that starts with the children but quickly escalates to involve the adults. Two mothers are furious about swearing, boundaries and discipline, and Asger must try to control the situation while accusations fly, language breaks down and the phone rings incessantly. Gradually, it becomes unclear who is actually behaving most childishly – the children or the adults?

The performance provides a surreal insight into today's classroom, where political battles over upbringing, inclusion and freedom of expression are fought alongside ambitious learning goals. We examine the purpose of teaching in 2025 and ask whether society's expectations are compatible with parental cooperation, where everything is up for negotiation. Who sets the limits and who is held accountable? And, not least, are we teaching the children anything at all – or are they teaching us adults that we still have a lot to learn?

In Asger's classroom, there must be room for everyone – including you. So come in, join the discussion and experience a community that negotiates itself to death one sentence at a time.
