Paradise Jazz: De Stærke Kvinder

The orchestra consists of Christina Dahl (saxophone), Christina von Bülow (saxophone), Lis Wessberg (trombone), Marie Louise Schmidt (piano), Ida Hvid (bass), Benita Haastrup (drums) and Birgitte Soojin (vocals) – seven musicians who have each made a distinct mark on the Danish jazz scene. The project was created on the initiative of Paradise Jazz's own Tove Enevoldsen, who has long wanted to focus on the many strong female musicians in Danish jazz.

The repertoire ranges from newly written compositions by the orchestra's own members to selected classics from The American Songbook. Common to everything they play is a love of good melodies, a personal sound and an intense presence that can be felt in every single number.

With experience, musicality and warmth, De Stærke Kvinder unite tradition and innovation in an expression that swings, surprises and moves. The audience can look forward to a concert filled with energy, interplay and genuine joy of playing – delivered by seven artists who, individually and together, stand as strong voices in Danish jazz.
