Paradise Jazz: Ole Thøger Quartet
After being a central figure on the Danish jazz scene in the 1970s and 80s – with his own releases and collaborations in groups such as Frontline, Thad Jones Eclipse and Salsa Na Ma – alto saxophonist Ole Thøger made his return to the stage in 2020. Today, he stands strong as both musician and composer.
At Paradise Jazz, he presents his Ole Thøger Quartet, joined by three highly experienced jazz profiles: Thomas Maintz on guitar, Peter Danstrup on bass and Frands Rifbjerg on drums. Together they create a musical space that moves from open improvisations to more traditional jazz forms. The audience can look forward to a concert marked by close interplay and a sound that is rooted in tradition while also speaking to the contemporary jazz scene.
An evening of energy, presence and powerful musical voices from Copenhagen, delivered by four musicians who have each left a strong mark on Danish jazz.
Line-up:
Ole Thøger (alto saxophone), Thomas Maintz (guitar), Peter Danstrup (bass), Frands Rifbjerg (drums).
