Sider om sorg / Pages on grief

CGO invites you to make your own zine about grief.

Dear all,

Last December, we held an event at Huset titled "Together in Grief". It was a beautiful evening where we gathered during a holiday season that can often feel like a lonely time, with the goal of creating something together – a glove to wrap around the heart, offering warmth during the winter season and winter grief. One participant suggested that we make a document, a few pages where we could all share recommendations for someone experiencing grief – a virtual care package, a first-aid kit for those with longing in their veins, and a space to feel seen and connected.

We now invite you to create your own zine, filled with your thoughts and words about a grief in your life – whether it’s anticipatory grief, heartbreak, or the sorrow of loss. Grief has many colors and facets, and there’s room for all of it. A zine you can hold in your hands and take home with you, or gift to someone you care about who might need it.
We hope it will provide comfort and reflection, warmth and love – all year round.

A zine (/ziːn/ ZEEN; short for magazine) is a self-published work, usually made using DIY techniques like cutting and pasting, and includes text and images.

ABOUT THE EVENING

Writing Workshop with Sabitha Söderholm

Last year, we recommended Sabitha Söderholm’s "Letter to the Bereaved", which was published in Information on December 21, 2023. We are incredibly fortunate that Sabitha is now joining us in person to facilitate a writing workshop for the evening, guiding us and helping us put our thoughts into words. We are beyond excited for this.

The writing workshop is in Danish, but we can translate if needed.

Zine Workshop with Iskra Dinkova

After Sabitha’s workshop, conceptual artist and curator Iskra Dinkova will lead the zine workshop "Fun with Folds". This workshop is perfect for both beginners and experts in zines, for visual thinkers and wordsmiths, for those who want to experiment with a new form of artistic expression, and for those who are crafty and curious hobbyists.

During this workshop, you’ll be introduced to several folding techniques and have the opportunity to experiment with different materials that will help you create your own zine. You are welcome to come up with and work on your own ideas/projects, or you can create a piece and participate in the collaborative zine we’ll make together, showcasing the participants’ works. The theme of the session is: feelings/experiences around grief, and you are encouraged to share recommendations, such as films, food, or places that have helped you through a period of grief, in a zine format.

Iskra Dinkova is a queer, non-binary (they/them) conceptual artist and curator with Bulgarian roots, currently living and working in Copenhagen. Their artistic practice revolves around themes such as people, society, social dynamics, behavior, and communication. In addition to creating art and curating, they facilitate fun, accessible workshops with the goal of sharing the knowledge they’ve gained on their artistic journey.
