Viktoria Søndergaard Secrets + support: Purpur | CPH Jazz Festival
Award-winning vibraphonist, composer, and bandleader Viktoria Søndergaard presents her most personal and fearless project to date: Viktoria Søndergaard SECRETS. A dream band featuring five remarkable voices from the Danish scene: Elvira Skovsang, Øyunn, Ida Duelund, and Frederik Blæsild Vuust.
In SECRETS, improvisation and poetry meet in an organic whole. “Music full of imagination, life-affirming joy, and the desire to turn dreams into reality” (Carl Prize 2025).
Her debut album “Music of Secrets” has been hailed as “a visionary artistic triumph” (Blue in Green Radio) and “music of ruthless intimacy” (Jazzthing).
SECRETS is not just a band – it’s an invitation to listen with your heart.
Support: Purpur
Purpur is an ensemble consisting of seven young women with diverse musical backgrounds in jazz, pop, and folk. Together, they create an exploratory soundscape where Danish-language lyrics and melodic wind arrangements meet pulsating rhythms. They make the most of their large ensemble to create tightly arranged music, combined with the freedom and improvisation of the jazz world. Purpur embraces the melancholic, Nordic sound and invites the listener into a dynamic, festive community reminiscent of roots and folk music.
Line-up: Signe Bang Nielsen (vocals, percussion), Lea Haun Lund (vocals/live electronics), Sophie Balund (trumpet/flugelhorn), Elvine Witt Melchiorsen (saxophone/flute), Maria Eppler (piano/vocals), Cille Kjærsgaard Larsen (bass), Sille Frost Pedersen (drums).
