Uniradioen presents Elliot & Maya | Musikcaféen
Elliot:
Elliot is the sound of late-night hours and bittersweet dreams of dusty 70s glamour. The 22-year-old singer and songwriter crafts songs rooted in indie rock, with poetic and daydream-like lyrics about life as a young man.
Behind the artist name Elliot is Carl-Emil Lohmann. His career began early when, as a child, he played major roles on Danish theater stages. In recent years, he has primarily focused on music, and in the autumn of 2024, he released the EP “Affogato”.
The sound he has developed is far from mainstream pop, residing instead in a dense universe of melancholic moods, raw guitars, and an unmistakable, time-defying love for analogue recording and hand-played instruments.
Elliot’s narrative delves into a young life filled with inner and outer pressures. Embracing the darkness he walks alongside, his music tells an honest story of rebelling against what the world expects you to be and daring to stand as your true self. The new songs are Elliot's own, with much more music to come in 2025.
Maya:
MAYA is a pop band that writes addictive songs—like little dopamine bombs, packed with understated indie rock guitars, cute synths, and catchy melodies. Their sound is both nostalgic and offers a clear new direction where hyperpop and indie rock go hand in hand.
Everything comes together in creative productions where Karl Storm and Tobias Bjerg weave distorted guitar with a warm acoustic sound. In many songs, the guitars are dominated by electronic elements, and between the catchy themes, listeners are captivated by Albert Callesen’s soft and piercing pop voice. Albert's vocals are tender and emotional, sometimes accentuated by playful autotune.
Through self-reflection, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Zelda references, Maya writes lyrics about what they hold dear in a way that's both thoughtful and humorous. It's music from the heart, created by children of the internet.
