Mads Kinnerup - Invented Mythology Release

Mads Kinnerup is an artist and music producer working within experimental electronic music, at the intersection of IDM and ambient. His practice explores how simple systems and repetitions can unfold over time into complex and immersive sonic experiences.

With his fourth album, Invented Mythology, Kinnerup turns his attention to the foundations of early electronic music. Inspired by studio techniques from the 1960s and 70s, the album is built using elemental tools such as arpeggiators and step sequencers. Rather than relying on harmonic progression, the music evolves through subtle shifts in sound, texture and spatial movement.

The result is a sonic landscape that feels both static and alive. Repetition creates a stable framework, while gradual changes in tone and modulation generate movement and depth.

The album was recorded at Elektron Musik Studion in Stockholm using rare Buchla synthesizers. Embracing the limitations and unpredictability of these early modular systems plays a central role, where physical interaction and slight variations in sound shape the musical narrative.

Kinnerup’s previous releases have established him as an artist deeply engaged with sound, time and memory. From the ambient-inspired debut Parademons to the introspective Heart 1993 and the minimalist exploration of repetition on Interpolation.

The release of Invented Mythology is marked by a live performance where the audience can experience the work unfold in real time.
