BABii (UK / Live) + SUPPORT: Lauge Heebøll | Xenon

BABii is the alter-ego of master creator, world builder and electronic adventurer Daisy Warne, and you can experience her live right here in HUSET
Danish Lauge Heebøll support with dark synth layers, noisy post-punk elements, and soft, melancholicchords

In the past few years BABii has radically changed the way she writes her captivating, boundary-pushing songs. Daredevil 2000 is a continuation of the writing style she began with 2022 collaborative mixtape Screamer, which saw the producer and vocalist writing from the perspective of her younger sister and their struggle with BPD. On Daredevil 2000 she pushes that conceptual approach even further, taking an abstract look at the idea of evil and projecting it into her own imagined idea of hell. Through this creative exercise, BABii asks challenging questions about what pushes people to transgress while also exploring her personal relationships with those who society deems unwanted or unacceptable.

Across the album, BABii enters something akin to Dante’s Inferno, exploring the origins of violence and criminality and how hell relates to the real world. Each song corresponds to a separate sin and comes with a villainous criminal attached. These include hooligans, gargoyles, goblins, and a Trash Spirit Clown named Tito Von Bricabrac. All exist in the fantastical Nevaworld, a futuristic hellscape that the album exists in.

She gathered producers Warpstr, Samuel Organ, Mun Sing, Iglooghost, and Pholo at Prah Studios in Margate, Kent to finish the album. Reference points in the recording process for Daredevil 2000’s punchy and abrasive sound included Kanye West’s dark masterpiece Yeezus, as well as Jam City and Mumdance. The album touches on classic grime instrumentals, fluorescent bassline, UKG, R&B, and Detroit cybercrime scam rap for influence while sounding utterly unique.

Since her 2019 debut BABii has been consistently championed by everyone from Crack, Mixmag, Dazed, The Observer, The Line of Best Fit, i-D, NPR and on the airwaves by the likes of Tom Ravenscroft, Lauren Laverne and Jamz Supernova on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, 1Xtra. She’s toured all over the world hitting festivals from Arts Electronica, Boomtown, End of The Road, LEV festival, PC Music’s 10th Anniversary Party and more alongside headline tours in China, USA, UK and EU.

SUPPORT: Lauge Heebøll

In an electronic soundscape where darkness pulses and light emerges, Lauge Heebøll explores the relational power of music.

With dark synth layers, noisy post-punk elements, and soft, melancholic chords, Lauge crafts a musical space that not only embraces difficult emotions but also reaches toward resolution and light.

Lauge Heebøll has just released his first single, under your beat, from his upcoming debut album echoflower, set to be released later this year.

Early on, he made a mark with his live performance at Roskilde Festival 2024, where, through his music and the interdisciplinary collaboration Ripe Body, he transformed the festival’s Platform stage into a space filled with intensity and sincerity.

Lauge later appeared on the radio show Mon Amie Complexe on DR P6, where he presented music from his forthcoming debut album Echoflower and shared insights into its creation.

His goal is not to please or simplify; rather, his honest expression and uncompromising approach are essential to his artistry, as he seeks to resonate
with listeners and create a deep connection.

“I hope people can turn inward and be moved by the music, maybe even find some hope amidst the darkness,”Lauge says. “I’m fascinated by the space music can create—where there’s room for both crying and dancing.”
