Paradise Jazz: Jakob Dinesen Quartet (DK/BR)
Paradise Jazz offers a concert with saxophonist Jakob Dinesen, who has been a prominent voice on the Danish jazz scene for more than 35 years.
Dinesen has collaborated with a wide range of notable names in both jazz and pop, including Hugo Rasmussen, Thomas Helmig, Thomas Blachman, Lars H.U.G. and Kira Skov. He has also been an important part of the development of modern Danish jazz through projects such as Once Around the Park and Jakob Bros Beautiful Day. Over the years, he has received several Danish Music Awards for best jazz release – most recently in 2025 – and his releases have featured international guests such as Paul Motian, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Nasheet Waits, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Eddie Gomez and Ben Street.
For the concert at Paradise Jazz, Jakob Dinesen has assembled a strong quartet of both experienced and younger musicians. He has with him, among others, the Brazilian drummer Ale Damasceno, who adds a rhythmic and energetic expression to the music.
The repertoire ranges from Dinesen's own compositions to inspiration from Brazilian music. The audience can expect a concert with strong ensemble playing, warm melodies and improvisations, where tradition and new impulses meet.
