Release: Town Portal

For more than a decade, the Copenhagen trio Town Portal has challenged and thrilled audiences with their unique blend of heavy riffs, offbeat rhythms and captivating melodic structures. Now they are ready to celebrate the release of their fourth album, Grindwork (2025), with a release concert where the music will be allowed to unfold in full force.

Grindwork marks a new direction for the band. After the dark and stringent predecessor Of Violence (2019), the trio embarks on a more open and playful approach, without losing the raw power and intensity they are known for. The album was created in collaboration with sound engineer Mark Roberts (Delta Sleep, Black Peaks, etc.) and shows Town Portal as a band that insists on the importance of creativity – even in a time marked by turmoil and crisis.

The release concert gives the audience a unique opportunity to experience the new material live for the first time. On stage, Town Portal combines virtuosity and energy in an uncompromising expression, where rhythmic complexity meets melodic clarity, and where surprises, heaviness and lightness exist side by side. The music is not only technically impressive, but also conveys the themes that run through the album: an insistence that it is still meaningful to create and find joy through art.

On Grindwork, the band has also opened the door to new collaborations. Two of the tracks have been expanded with string arrangements created by Nicole Hogstrand (Halvcirkel, CRUSH String Collective, Damkapellet) and Lisa Marie Vogel (Toechter), adding a new dimension to Town Portal's sound universe. At the concert, you can expect to hear these works unfold in an intense interplay between the raw and the vulnerable.

Town Portal consists of Christian Henrik Ankerstjerne (guitar), Malik Breuer Bistrup (drums) and Morten Ogstrup Nielsen (bass). Over the years, they have played at festivals such as ArcTanGent, A Colossal Weekend and Portals and shared the stage with bands such as Thrice and The Dillinger Escape Plan. With Grindwork and this release concert, they are writing a new chapter in their history – inviting the audience into a universe where music is both resistance, play and pure creative joy.
