Sigvard Madsen Quintet | CPH Jazz Festival

The quintet plays original, contemporary jazz, where the music is carried by a narrative and lyrical compositional form. Each track is a short story without words, in which motifs and phrases emerge, disappear and return – sometimes in new forms – and slowly reveal a larger narrative thread running through the music. The compositional craftsmanship is central and provides the framework, but the music also opens up along the way, allowing improvisation, energy and solo performances to take over. A poetic and vibrant take on the modern jazz quintet.
