ABOUT THE EVENT = This evening, we celebrate the love of silent film with the world premiere of the new silent film Tinder ABC and a return screening of The ABC of Love from 1916.

20.00 = “THE ABC OF LOVE,” (1916, 50 minutes) = In the early years of silent film, Asta Nielsen became one of the world’s first international movie stars. She had her breakthrough in Denmark but found her largest audience in Germany, where her intense and modern acting style made her an icon of early cinema / In this elegant and playful silent film comedy, Asta Nielsen displays her great comic talent and her courage to challenge the gender roles of the time. When Lis meets her fiancé Philip for the first time, he does not at all live up to her romantic expectations. She had dreamed of a passionate man of the world, but instead finds herself facing a shy and inexperienced suitor. Determined to shape him according to her ideal, she takes him to Paris to train him in the art of seduction. In order to gain access to the world of men herself, Lis must disguise herself as a man — and soon the roles become more complicated than she had imagined.

AFTER BRIEF BREAK, FOLLOWED BY…. “TINDER ABC” (2026) = World Premiere / A short silent film comedy about expectations and romantic entanglements. Asta (Anne Reumert) eagerly awaits her Tinder date. When he finally shows up, he looks nothing like the man in the profile picture. Nevertheless, she lets herself be persuaded — not least when he promises champagne. Shortly after, Betty (Lisa Miriam Otto) arrives, also having shown up for a date. It soon becomes clear that something has gone wrong. The film is inspired by real events.
