Vinterjazz: СОЮЗ (SOYUZ) + support: Kristoffer Raasted Quintet
Based in Warsaw, their music travels far beyond borders. With roots in the Eastern European jazz and pop tradition, they blend elements of folk, orchestral music, and global pop into a sound that defies easy categorization – and that’s precisely what makes it so captivating.
The band consists of Alex Chumak (vocals, keys), Mikita Arlou (bass), Albert Karch (drums), and Igor Wiśniewski (guitar). Together, they create a concert experience where no two nights are alike. The audience is invited into a musical universe where intense improvisation meets carefully crafted arrangements.
With their upcoming album KROK (“step” in Belarusian), SOYUZ continue to explore new paths. Recorded in São Paulo, Stockholm, and Warsaw, the album weaves together influences from Brazil, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe – while staying rooted in the band’s own distinctive sound.
Look forward to an evening of Eastern European experiment and global sound on stage.
Support: Kristoffer Raasted Quintet
In a constellation with guitarist Mads Nørgaard (gui), Per Soulgaard (b), Jens Erik Raasted (fl) and Johnnie McKoy (dr), the soft voice of vocalist Kristoffer Raasted is at the center of a journey into the realm of dreamy, classic Bossa Nova tunes. With singer Carlos Lyra as a reference point, the repertoire consists of well-known classics from composers such as Antônio Carlos Jobim and Luiz Bonfa, expanding into more obsolete corners of the Bossa Nova genre. The front singer of the ensemble has been in the jury for DMA in the vocal jazz category and has toured Japan in connection with Jazz Denmark's commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Danish-Japanese trade agreement in 2017.
