Rasmus Matthiesen returns to his roots with a new album about faith, existence and life as a relocator. This autumn, Rasmus Matthiesen embarks on tour with new songs about faith, existence and life outside the big city.

Rasmus Matthiesen is a songwriter and storyteller rooted in the Danish folk tradition. Recently, he was hailed as “one of the next great unifying voices on the Danish folk-rock and singer-songwriter scene” (All That…).

In Matthiesen’s songs, the present is a fluid space between past and future, where tales from his childhood home in Søhøjlandet sit side by side with references to figures like Grundtvig, Jeppe Aakjær and resistance poet Morten Nielsen. His lyrics reflect a continuous search for meaning and identity, drifting between our shared history and the peculiar time we live in.

The songs are earthy and poetic, wrapped in an organic, dusty musical universe where folk-rock and alternative country are part of the DNA. His sources of inspiration include artists like Gregory Alan Isakov and Jason Isbell, as well as Danish icons such as Povl Dissing, Niels Skousen and Kristian Leth.

This October, Matthiesen releases his fourth album – created in close collaboration with guitarist and producer Søren Bigum (Jonah Blacksmith, Peter Sommer & Tiggerne) and drummer Jonas Kardyb (Svaneborg/Kardyb). This time, his songwriting explores new paths with songs about faith, existence and life as a relocator.

The band consists of Søren Schack (guitar), Christian Pedersen (bass), Lars Pedersen (drums), and Magnus Munk Tækker (guitar and pedal steel).
