Man Bites Dog

Is it a comedy? A documentary? An underground gore-fest? Man Bites Dog, the first feature film from Belgian director Rémy Belvaux, is all of these and much more, a ghastly, shocking and explosive debut with all the genuinely ruthless ability to disturb. And it's funny, too.

FIST OF LEGEND

"This gem from 1994 is a remake of the classic FIST OF FURY, starring the unsurpassable Bruce Lee. However, Jet Li does the mythical figure of Chen Zhen more than justice, putting on a ferocious and unforgiving performance. This film addresses universal themes such as love, jealousy, betrayal and revenge, while satisfying our insatiable kung-fu appetite too – there are understated heroes, evil antagonists, sublimely choreographed battles and, of course, the heart warming triumph over adversity.” – Joseph Stannard

THE ROOM

THE ROOM made an inauspicious debut on a single cinema screen in Los Angeles. Described by one reviewer as “like getting stabbed in the head”, the film gradually developed an increasingly passionate following that savored its surreal performances, cockeyed emotional logic and bizarre narrative. In the finest cult tradition, it started drawing "regulars" who “got it” in the midst of a sea of clueless fellow humans.

LEMMY

Lemmy Kilmister’s band Motorhead stands alongside Black Sabbath as a forebear of heavy metal, and you don't have to be a metalhead to love "Lemmy," an awestruck depiction of a rock god whose eccentricities and longevity make him one of the music industry's more fascinating characters. Fiercely distinctive, keenly insightful and wildly entertaining.

SALÓ

This film was based on the 1745 book written by the Marquis De Sade, and it was also the last film he released before he was murdered. The movie came out three weeks later and caused much controversy. It will strike some viewers as irredeemably depraved, but its unflinching view of human cruelty makes it impossible to ignore.
